Class Requirements:
Students must hold their valid California Boater Card in order to take this course, and BRING YOUR BOATER CARD to class. The minimum age to attend our Boat Control course is 16 years old.
This 16 hour course is taught over a weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 8am – 5pm. The course is taught using the National Safe Boating Council Curriculum and is NASBLA approved. This course is limited to 5 students. Most of this course will be conducted on our 20’ Williard Marine Fast Rescue Boat. Upon completion of this course, the student will receive a course certificate.
This on the water training course will teach all the basic skills of power boat operations, including:
- Pre-underway inspections
- Engine Controls
- Maneuvering & docking in a marina
- Open water operations, low & high speed
- Man Overboard Retrieval
- Handling in wind & waves
Most insurance companies will provide a discount of up to 10% off of your insurance rates for completion of these courses. Please check with your insurance company for details.
Sign up for both Boater 101 and Boater 102 courses at the same time, and receive a package price of $995.00! This will be adjusted on your final invoice.
