Dreams of Boating
Have you been staring out at the water, longing to feel the wind in your face and control your own boat, but you don’t know where to start? Tired of being a “tag along” with friends or family members, going out on their boats but not sure if you have what it takes to confidently take the wheel? Just like driving a car, it all starts with education and taking that first step!
Becoming a Boater: Your First Step
Your friends at Boater U have designed boating classes specifically for the beginning boater. Even if you have never set foot on a boat, we can take you from a complete novice to a competent operator. If your goal is just to get your boater safety card (“boating license”), or become more aware of boating safety, our 3 hour online boaters safety course “Boater 100” is the perfect fit and the simplest way to take dream to reality. Learn more here.
If you’re looking for more in-depth knowledge of boating, with the goal of becoming a proficient operator, we suggest taking our Boater 101 course, “Boating Skills and Seamanship”. This course teaches you the “language” of boating, while training you in all aspects of boat operations, including types of boats, boat equipment, weather, rules of the road and basic navigation. Learn more here.
Upon completion of your “shore school” classroom or online training, it’s time to get out on the water and behind the wheel with our Boater 102 “On the Water Boat Operations” course! This 16 hour course, typically held on a weekend, puts YOU behind the wheel of our twin engine, center console aluminum training boat designed for training up to 5 students at a time. Our “On the Water Boat Operations” course was designed by the National Safe Boating Council and is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). Learn more here.
Learning to Boat “On the Water”
Upon completion of our Boater 100/101 and Boater 102 courses, you will have the confidence you need to take out a boat on your own as a real boater! What are you waiting for?
